According to the principles of Samael Aun Weor; the pioneer of the present-day Gnostic movement; the seven cardinal vices are comprehended as inner accumulations or “I’s” (components of the ego). As assortment of evident, vigorous, concrete or “fiends” inside the individual self that ambushes awareness, it symbolizes the foundation of unawareness, agony, and fantasy, that should be removed by means of cognitive, self-reflection, understanding, and the support of the Holy Mother to arouse alertness and attain emancipation. In other words, those elements of our egos manifest themselves at any time our mood changes and we don’t even realize what’s happening. For example; when we treat our neighbors with disdain, gossip about our friends or family, and have harmful thoughts which may influence us to act the wrong way. As our moods fluctuate; Master Samael states that we are puppets of our own egos which we allow to take charge of our thinking apparatus anytime they wish to do so.
Most people, no matter their background, use foul language, profanity, swearing, and curses to express themselves, or anytime they have a normal conversation. It is possible to stop all that insanity. Being aware of where we are, who we are and what we are doing can be a beginning to change the way we judge, enact and perceive others. We need to examine ourselves from the inside out; and decide to become a more compassionate, caring and humane person. According to Master Samael, mankind doesn’t appear to desire to grow into refined souls themselves. They may judge anyone they may think is misbehaving, acting out or naughty/rowdy, however, when it comes to themselves, they may imagine they are superior human beings. Attempting to improve ourselves isn’t an easy task, however, it could be very rewarding once we start seeing some results; first, not reacting when other people make comments which may offend us. After a while we may realize that by remaining quiet we will be able to manage our relationships better. Master Samael states that in order to cease each cardinal sin; individuals must develop a procedure where they are able to self-examine themselves, anytime the defect shows up; the psychical “suspension” of each weakness has to be done through much reflection/meditation with the Divine Mother. The person needs to get to know the defect well. Every single imperfection is required to be treated separately by zeroing in on a single fault, an interval, involves extreme consciousness to snatch toward their functioning.
Virtues or principles on the other hand; are not simply upright manners yet are contemplated potential strengths of the soul or essence which fundamentally could be liberated by way of the breaking apart of such weaknesses, that enables the pursuer to awaken their understanding.
